SUPERINTENDENT- BRIDGE REHABILITATION/POLYESTER CONCRETE
Bridge Rehabilitation/Polyester Concrete Superintendent needed! McCuen Construction, Inc. is seeking to fill a need for a Superintendent for our Bridge Rehabilitation Division. Position Summary:
- Our project Superintendents work hand in hand with Project Managers in the planning and oversight of our bridge rehabilitation projects. The Superintendent focusses primarily on the project crew organization, weekly and 3 week schedules, project equipment utilization/maintenance and leading the project crews on a day-to-day basis to reach safety and productivity goals, while keeping a keen eye on work quality and conformance with the contract requirements.
Preferred candidates will have the following:
Minimum of 15 years of increasing responsibility in the California Public Works/Caltrans market with at least 5 years of experience as a project Superintendent.
- Experience predominantly with polyester concrete overlays, bridge deck repairs, bridge joint seal installation, bridge retrofit construction.
- Ability to quickly absorb contract plans/specifications and has an expert level understanding of construction techniques/means & methods for the construction of things within this work scop.
- Strong ability to plan, coordinate and supervise all jobsite functions/tasks (3 week look ahead scheduling, material procurement schedules, permanent material quality control, equipment requirements/trouble shooting equipment repairs, manpower and equipment requirements).
- High level of commitment to safety and establishing a project safety culture through leading by example.
- Have a high degree of organizational skill and ability to keep track of many moving pieces in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task with an emphasis on meeting project quality/line and grade requirements while ensuring crew(s) have what they need to meet safety and productivity goals.
- Proficiency in the utilization of a PC, MS Office/email, cell phone. Experience with HCSS HeavyJob and Raken is a plus.
- General understanding of heavy equipment mechanics and operation, specifically with bridge rehabilitation related equipment (overlay pavers, volumetric mixing trucks, transport equipment, general ride on equipment). Ability to perform minor equipment maintenance and repair is a plus.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Excellent teamwork skills including the demonstration of daily leadership, crew mentorship and daily team meeting participation.
- Self-motivated with positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Strong communication skills; our Superintendents are the front line communicators and negotiators with the owner’s representative(s) and the ability to exercise excellent communication with a stron understanding of the contract and McCuen’s interest is vital to overall project success.
- Minimum of 3 industry references during positions of supervisory capacity (at least one reference in a superintendent’s capacity during the past 5 years).

CONSTRUCTION CIVIL ENGINEERING ESTIMATOR
Job Requirements:

Review specifications, drawings, and proposed project site conditions to include in final project estimate
- Review quantity take-offs to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates

Analyze and build estimate data that impact the cost of labor, materials, equipment, location and other factors to ensure a quality and timely estimate

Analyze alternative means and construction methods to increase competitiveness of a bid

Apply mathematical calculations to ensure estimated costs are accurate

Analyze risks and communicate strategies to mitigate future construction obstacles

Present estimate/proposal to management for review to ensure accuracy and completeness

Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing
- Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure understanding of project scope
Personal Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent related work experience preferred

2+ years estimating work experience preferred

Prior Project Manager/Engineer and quality take-off experience is a plus

To assist in the overall project to ensure a timely project schedule including a smooth start-up phase
